Top Tech Talent Town

According to a new report, the Triangle's tech talent pool and job market are expanding rapidly. In a key ranking by real estate firm CBRE, which assists companies in securing office space, the Triangle's appeal as a tech industry hub saw the most significant growth among metro areas.

The report highlights how the Triangle distinguishes itself in several key areas on the national level.

  • The number of tech workers in the city grew 17.9% to 75,150 between 2018 and 2023, one of the highest rates in the country.

  • It had the third-highest representation of female tech workers of any market in the study.

  • And many businesses are attracted to its lower costs, with the average wage for a tech worker in the Triangle at $106,900, compared to $192,969 in the San Francisco Bay area. Although growing fast, Triangle rents remain lower than most peer tech hubs as well, per the report.
