Traveling out of state to meet with site selection consultants is an important part of the overall economic development strategy for RED. These consultants are working with some of the biggest companies in the world to plan relocations or expansions in the U.S. Face-to-face meetings open the door for relationship building and discussion about Raleigh.

Recently, the team traveled to New York City to conduct a series of meetings and host a private reception. The agenda included attendees from the following organizations in the Triangle:

  • CBRE Raleigh

  • Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC)

  • Highwoods Properties, Inc.

  • NC Biotechnology Center

  • NC Department of Commerce

  • Raleigh Economic Development

  • Research Triangle Regional Partnership

  • Wake County Economic Development

The trip also included attendance from Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders of the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

The agenda included the following meetings:

  • CBRE NYC: Ashley Cagle and Kyle Touchstone gave a regional presentation on life sciences in the Triangle region. The CBRE NYC team shared an overview of emerging market trends.

    Innolabs: Toured a six-story 266,800 sf urban lab/office community in Long Island City. The space was developed by King Street Properties, developer of Pathways Triangle, a 75-acre biomanufacturing campus in Morrisville, NC. The tour gave Raleigh stakeholders an idea of new ways to support the life science industry.

    RWN: Met with development partner RWN Real Estate, who recently completed two industrial facilities at Eagle Crest in Southeast Raleigh. RWN plans to construct a total of 4 million sf within the development.

    Savills NYC: Met with Norbert Vnek who led several large expansion projects in the Triangle. Discussion centered around trends in office space, return to work adjustments, and overall economic development updates.

The trip also included a reception at the New York Yankees game. The reception welcomed local consultants, key contacts, and delegates from the following foreign offices:

  • Austria Trade

  • Enterprise Ireland

  • Embassy of Finland

  • Czech Invest

  • Business France

  • Air France

  • Swissnex

  • Catalonia
