News: RED to Attend BIO International Convention

Raleigh Economic Development (RED), a program of the Raleigh Chamber in partnership with the City of Raleigh and Wake County Economic Development, is attending the world's largest life sciences and biotech gathering in Boston this June. Kyle Touchstone, director of RED, along with other stakeholders from the Triangle region, will join +14k attendees to discuss why Raleigh has a longstanding tradition of supporting life science companies.

Kyle shares, “Attending industry events like BIO International opens doors for business opportunities and allows us to stay ahead of the curve, gaining insights into the latest trends and innovations. As we continue to see our life science sector grow in Raleigh and throughout the region, seizing these opportunities can help us stay competitive and drive toward a brighter future.”

Raleigh is a long-time leader in the life sciences sector. In the last few years, Cellectis, Gilead, and Targan made big moves in Raleigh with relocations and office expansions for these global life science companies. Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, the world’s leading provider of acetaminophen, opened its Raleigh manufacturing facility in November 1966, providing organic and inorganic chemicals for various companies.

The BIO International Convention is an excellent opportunity for Raleigh and the greater Triangle region to share the assets and strengths of the local business ecosystem. The convention agenda includes attendance and representation at a North Carolina Biotechnology Center-sponsored reception and pavilion, meetings with brokers, and meetings with life science and biotech companies.
