Milken Institue: Raleigh is the #1 Best Performing Large City
The Milken Institute is a highly regarded nonprofit think tank that conducts research, convenes experts, and develops initiatives across various disciplines to tackle some of the world's most pressing challenges. Each year, the institute issues a “Best Performing Cities” list, and this year, Raleigh took the number one spot for the “Best Performing Large City.” Raleigh has appeared in the top five for several years and has been mentioned in the ranking for the past twelve years. Milken notes:
“Raleigh, NC, becomes the best-performing large metropolitan area for the first time in over 10 years. Raleigh’s ascent to the first position is due to its excellent performance in a range of aspects. With a thriving high-tech sector, strong labor market, and robust access to economic opportunities, Raleigh performs in the top quarter of large metros on most (11 out of 13) of the metrics included in the BPC index.”
Why is this important? This ranking represents years of planning, billions in investments, infrastructure development, and leadership. RED Director Kyle Touchstone shared:
“Show me another city around the U.S. that collaborates, plans, and invests like we do. We earned this ranking and will continue to move our city ahead. We have a saying around the office–never be complacent in our success!”
