The Best Large Metros for Women in Tech
CoWorking Cafe reports that women now make up 35% of the workforce in tech jobs, a big leap from 9% in the early 2000s. Raleigh, North Carolina, recently ranked as the fifth “Best Large Metro for Women in Tech”. Here is the breakdown as reported by CoWorking Cafe:
Raleigh took 5th place in our large metro ranking, establishing itself as a prime location for women in the tech sector.
Raleigh boasts the 3rd highest health insurance coverage for female workers in the large metro category, giving 64% of women access to healthcare.
The metro also offers the 4th highest number of tech jobs—36.2 out of 1,000 jobs can be found in the tech industry.
Raleigh saw a 24% increase in female tech workers from 2019 to 2023, bringing the share of women in the field to 25% by 2023.
With the 6th highest number of coworking spaces, Raleigh accommodates female tech workers with 4.44 flex workspaces per 100,000 residents.
